Aerial Creative Course with Strangebird Zirkus

Sat 13th, Sun 14th & Sun 21st April 2013

This 19 hour intensive course will offer participants the opportunity to create a short piece of contemporary circus using aerial hoop, rope, silks or static trapeze.* The course will be taught by Strangebird Zirkus’ Lucy Deacon and Moritz Linkmann, joined by theatre specialist Ramesh Meyyappan.

Saturday 13th April 10am-6pm
Sunday 14th April 1pm-6pm

Sunday 21st April 12noon -6pm

Fee £150

The course aims to enhance performance skills and to assist participants in developing their own unique style on the aerial equipment. It will explore how ideas can be expressed visually, using aerial movement.  Participants will work through a range of creative exercises with the different teachers, going on to create a short piece of performance using the elements they have found most interesting.

The creative process will be closely supervised and supported by the company, working in a laboratory style environment where ideas can be explored without inhibition. The company will offer technical assistance when putting together a routine on equipment but participants should be prepared to work largely from their own skills base (this is not a technique course).

There will be an optional showing of works in progress at the end of the course.

If interested in attending please contact info@strangebirdzirkus.com to book a place. If you have previously registered interest you still need to contact us again now to complete your booking.

To ensure the quality of the course we are offering a maximum of 10 places.

* Please note we had previously announced we would be offering Chinese Pole as an apparatus for this course but due to constraints on rigging time around the course hours this has become impossible on this occassion – sorry!
