The new contact details are: Out Of The BLue Arts & Education Trust The Drill Hall 32-36 Dalmeny Street Edinburgh EH6 8RG 0131 555 7100 0131 555 7101 admin@outoftheblue.org.uk D A L M E N Y S T R E E T Having bought the Ex TA building in Dalmeny Street we have completed the first phase of refurbishment. Thanks to a Capital grant from the Scottish Arts Council and a loan from Social Investment Scotland, we have brought the existing spaces into being as studios and offices. The work doesn’t stop there however, we are now embarking on a drive to secure phase 2 refurbishment funding, to create additional productive spaces. Plans have been drawn to make the building an environmentally and artistically significant development. Building is scheduled to happen over winter 04-05. The Dalmeny Street site is a fantastic opportunity to create an arts centre rammed with creative activity. You can be a part of it. Contact Nicole on 556-5204 email nicole@outoftheblue.org.uk , if you wish to lease studio, workshop, office or secure storage space within the building. An intense period of planning is currently taking place to enable us to purchase the building on 14th April. Work will then be undertaken to create the appropriate working spaces, and adaptations for a phased development and transition from New Street. B O N G O C L U B The Bongo Club has moved to Holyrood Road See www.thebongoclub.co.uk for details N E W S T R E E T The building at New Stret has been given another stay of execution, currently expected to be demolished around 2006. Whilst this old bus garage is not exactly luxury accommodation, it provides much needed studio space. F U N D R A I S I N G A P P E A L Thanks to those who have made donations to out of the blue to allow us to make the most of this development opportunity. We continue to drive forward with limited resources. If you are in a position to be able to make a donation to become a ‘friend of out of the blue’ please contact harald@outoftheblue.org.uk or on 557-6448 to arrange a meeting. The recycling appeal is also helping bring in much needed funds. If you want further information on how you can recycle your old mobile phones and printer cartridges please contact dana@outoftheblue.org.uk or on 555 7101. L E T T E R S O F S U P P O R T Also thanks to those who have written letters of support. If you feel strongly that there is a need to support artists in Edinburgh please feel free to write a letter of support; If you send/email letters expressing the need for the work we are doing, it will help us in our funding negotiations. If you send a letter to ‘whom it may concern’ addressed to Rob Hoon at ootb, we will forward them on. This only really works if everyone does it so please get writing and return to me as soon as possible. respond to news@outoftheblue.org.uk |
