June 2016 News

Thursday 26th May 2016

Out of the Blue look forward to welcoming many a happy Leither for a rich mix of Leith Festival and LeithLate action at the Out of the Blue Drill Hall in June. LeithLate16 will be based at the Drill Hall this year, with a host of activities taking place in and around the building over the four days of the festival (23rd – 26th).

Following on from the hugely successful production of ‘Persevere’, part of Out of the Blue’s Gretna 100 Project, “Tales from The Hanging Captain” sees Active Inquiry and Strange Town join forces again in a Heritage Lottery Fund supported Leith Moves project to explore the history of Leith Docks. This inspirational play reflects some of the hidden stories and voices of Leith Docks. Set in the fictional Leith pub, ‘The Hanging Captain’, the production aims to draw out further riveting stories for exploration over the coming year (16th – 18th). The production is supported by the magnificent team of #artcore apprentices and Out of the Blueprint. #artcore will also be showcasing the work of young musicians at Leith Festival Gala Day (11th), LeithLate at McDonald Road Library (23rd) and beyond as part of the Edinburgh Youth Music Festival.

Other Leith Festival delights at the OOTB Drill Hall include music at Bruncheon (11th) and Exposed 16, the graduate show of Edinburgh College’s award winning photography department (8th-17th).

Prior to the Leith Festival, OOTB are delighted to welcome the beautiful Imaginate Festival show, Broken Dreams (2nd, 3rd & 4th June).

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
