Edinburgh - my place It is proposed that a series of images and texts will be undertaken by artists and members of the local community for display on hoardings surrounding Cuckfield Poroperty Group building site on Lady Lawson Street, Tollcross, Edinburgh. Three artists, Chad MacCail, Eliza Gilchrist and Neil MacArthur will work with a group of young adults to create the panels. The group will be given the chance to work as individuals or in small groups. They will work with the artists to conceptualise, plan and produce the panels. There will be 16 panels; each panel will be 1m x 1.5m in landscape format. The artwork will represent the artists and group's interpretation of the theme. The group will see their images displayed in a public 'art gallery' alongside the work of the artists. Participants will produce artwork to illustrate the hoardings, giving a contemporary feel with graphic and textual coherence making this site a striking public 'art gallery'. This project will: * Encourage a creative response to local surroundings
The finished artwork will be a fusion of work from the established and aspiring artists. The hoardings will demonstrate that the Cuckfield Property Group have an interest in the voice of the community, whilst promoting high quality and visually arresting public artworks. We are hoping to have the Artwork in place by the end of the year 2001. enquiries to publicarts@outoftheblue.org.uk | |||
