Puppet Animation Festival 2013

Wed 27th March - Tues 2nd April 2013

The Puppet Animation Festival is the UK’s oldest and largest children’s theatre festival.

The Puppet Animation Festival started life as a week long event at the Netherbow Arts Centre in Edinburgh in 1984 and has grown since then to cover the length and breadth of Scotland from the Scottish Borders to the Shetland Isles.

This year we’re very excited to be hosting 2 fantastic shows and a puppet making w’shop.

Fingal is out seeking his fortune, when his tired old horse is replaced by a magic one. This horse can take you to wherever in the world you wish to go. So the horse takes Fingal to meet a Prince, who tells him to fetch a princess, who in turn sets him on a number of quests. But who will marry the princess? Fingal or the Prince?
In this show with audience involvement, children become courtiers, mountains and magnificent castles and puppets move through human forests, fields and snapping crocodile infested waters, in another of Yugen’s light hearted adaptations from our rich heritage of Scottish fairy tales.

With specially recorded music, beautifully made rod puppets, and Steve Smart’s masterly puppety skills, this is a show that will be enjoyed by adults and children alike.
Established in 1987, Clydebuilt is one of Scotland’s leading touring puppet companies, touring very extensively throughout the UK and performing over 200 shows per year.
