New Out Of The Blue Headquarters Gets Edinburgh International Festival Call Up
New OOTB headquarters at The Drill Hall in
Leith is this year confirmed as a major new Edinburgh International
Festival venue. The Drill Hall is set to stage one of the
hottest tickets at this year’s Festival. The shows
mark the English-language debut of star Catalan director Jordi
Milan’s hit production NutsCoconuts.
Opening night is Monday August 15 with performances nightly,
except the following Mondays, until Saturday September 3.
Curtains go up at 7:30pm except Saturdays when the show begins
at 8:00pm. There are also 2pm matinees every Saturday during
the run.
The show is set to be a real spectacular. Opulent sets,
outrageously camp costumes and bawdily comic song and dance
routines all poke affectionate fun at the variety theatrical
tradition.
OOTB purchased the listed, former Army drill hall last
year. Plans are underway to transform the landmark Victorian
building in Leith ’s Dalmeny Street into a modern,
multi-media creative hub. The Festival show further underlines
OOTB’s central role in the area’s ongoing cultural
regeneration.
