Out of the Blue Tapped By VSO for Prestige Exhibition
Out of the Blue is this month to stage a major new photography exhibition for the Voluntary Service Organisation. Eight Ways to Change the World opens at The Out of the Blue Drill Hall on November 12 and runs to the 26 th, Tuesdays to Saturdays, from 10am to 6pm.
The exhibition investigates the progress made towards achieving the eight Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) set by the United Nations in 2000 through the work of seven photographers from documentary photo agency Panos Pictures. The MDGs are aimed at eradicating world poverty by 2015 by combating issues such as poverty, hunger, disease and infant mortality in the developing world. The seven photo essays are designed to bring the everyday problems facing ordinary people across the world into sharper focus. The participating photographers are Chris de Bode, Pep Bonet, Tim Dirven, Adam Hinton, Zed Nelson, Dieter Telemans and Ami Vitale. An eighth, interactive section will ask exhibition-goers to contribute their own views on the MDGs.
Out of the Blue Co-ordinator and project manager for the VSO exhibition Rob Hoon says, "We are delighted to be involved with such a worthwhile project. Naturally we are also pleased that The Out of the Blue Drill Hall should be selected to stage a high profile exhibition such as this."
