New Out of the Blue Tramworks Venue Lands Spaceship Big Top

Out Of The Blue (OOTB) is to bring a flying saucer-style circus big top to Leith Walk for the festival. New venue The Out Of The Blue Tramworks at the old bus and tram depot at Shrub Place plays host to contemporary circus troupe No Fit State for the exclusive Festival Fringe run of hit show ImMortal ² . The giant silver tent - called The Spaceship - touches down in Edinburgh on the 7 th of August with shows most days until the 29 th . Indian physical theatre group Ishara will also perform its Fringe show Transpositions in the futuristic tent.

OOTB was offered temporary use of the depot site by developers BL Developments after being introduced by local residents group Pilrig Resident Association. Plans for new shows at the venue after the Festival have not been ruled out.

The move underlines OOTB's expertise in revitalising gap sites and empty buildings with arts projects. OOTB PR and Marketing Manager Hugo Fluendy says, "This is a perfect example of what Out of the Blue do best. By working closely and creatively with the local community we can inject new life into old spaces."
