Makers Marque is more than just a market for local traders and designers. It is a chance for people to get involved, learn a new skill and see the processes that usually take place behind closed studio doors. The event is a mix of local craftspeople demonstrating their skills and selling their unique products, plus artist and makers workshops, demonstrations and OPEN STUDIOS.

Screen Print your own Tote Bag
Drop in workshops at 12-1pm, 1-3pm, 4-5pm

Screen print your own tote bag with print designer Katie Charleson! You’ll be shown the basics of screen printing, with your choice of ink colours and a selection of Katie Charleson designs to print yourself onto a tote bag to take home. Workshop lasts half an hour, max 4 attendees per class.

Mud painting Workshop with Jemima Hall
Drop in workshop 12 – 4pm
£2 suggested donation per participant
In this Mud workshop you will be introduced to the ancient practice of painting with soil. We will mix different naturally pigmented soils with water to create our mud paint. Painting on to fabric or paper we will experiment with colour, shape and tone.
People can drop in to join a workshop as they wish, with a max of 6 people working at one time. Participants are welcome to take their work home with them.

Lampshade making workshop with Spring Feathers

20cm drum lampshade – £25
30cm drum lampshade – £30
This relaxed and supportive 2 hour workshop will introduce you to the simple techniques and tools required to make a basic drum lampshade. There will be variety of fabrics to choose from but if you have a particular fabric you would like to use, you are welcome to bring it along! Only 5 attendees per workshop, so early booking is advised!

‘Quick to make pickles & preserves’ at the Drill Hall Cafe Cook School

Bring a jar, fill a jar and let it do its thing. Starting at 12:30 and running throughout the day, make it here and take it with you.

Alternative Material Jewellery: Paper Jewellery with Roberta Pederzoli
2pm – 3pm
£10
Paper can be used to create elegant, colorful and eco-friendly pieces of jewellery without spending a fortune. Furthermore, rolling paper with your finger-tips is extremely relaxing and therapeutic. This workshop will explore different techniques to make basic paper filigree shapes and beads as well as jewellery findings. (12 people maximum for workshop)
