An exhibition by resident artists working at Out of the Blue Abbeymount Studios in Abbeyhill, Edinburgh.

The exhibition tells the story of each artist: who they are, what they are doing, making and designing right now, as well as what currently inspires them.

Out of the Blue Abbeymount Studios is a new and exciting creative space in the old Victorian school building at the top of Easter Road.
It is a multi-disciplinary facility promoting engagement and innovation in craft and design, as well as providing facilities, opportunities and development for professional designer-makers and the community.

  • Covid-19 restrictions

    From 26th April there was easing of restrictions in relation to education, hospitality, galleries, retail, services – but indoor numbers are restricted.

    Out of the Blue have consequently re-opened for appropriately social distanced conviviality and activity from Monday 26th April.

    As things stand, from 17th May more events will be allowed, with currently unspecified capacity constraints. We will bring back our events, classes, workshops, and exhibitions when safe to do so.

    Over the course of 2021 Out of the Blue will continue to offer opportunities for artists and members of the community to learn, participate and earn income.

    We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

    Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

    We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
