A traditional Scottish tale about a young hero called Conan, who against all odds, manages to defeat and banish a dragon from his village, in the far away forgotten regions of Scotland.

Told with hand crafted puppets and striking shadow silhouettes and an original musical soundtrack, Yugen Puppet Company re-tells the story in its own unique and humorous way. A heart-warming tale for the whole family.

Yugen Puppet Theatre’s founder and director Alison Monaghan has over twenty years of experience as a performer, puppeteer, director, puppet designer and maker and illustrator, also working with the National Theatre of Scotland, the Leicester Haymarket Theatre and Vision Mechanics. Alison’s work with her company is inspired and informed by Scotland’s rich source of folk tales and stories.

Alison Monaghan is most skilled at making her puppets live within her charming and imaginative productions – Highland News

Have you ever met a fairy? They’re shape-shifters and mischief makers! Puck is the youngest and cheekiest of the fairies. How will he react when the Fairy Queen takes in a human baby?

Tricky is a one woman show, where hands move in unusual ways to create shape-shifting fairies. Using handmade puppets, it tells the story of Puck, a baby fairy vying for attention and learning to share. A story about tricks, patience and love. Then, learn about puppetry in an interactive demonstration. Participants will have a go, interacting with the puppets and help to make them move!

We are very pleased to welcome Glasgow-based NUDGE Puppets to Puppet Animation Festival for the first time.
