a public fax forum: new work by Sarah Phelan

Wednesday 4th May - Saturday 11th June 2022
Mon - Sat 10am-5pm, free entry

Sarah Phelan presents a new body of work created during her time as artist-in-residence at Out of the Blueprint.

Over the past three months, Sarah has been exploring the capabilities and alternative uses of fax technologies as a means of making experimental riso prints. From utilising the B&W aesthetic properties of thermal paper and the way it repels the riso’s rice-based ink, to distortions of reproducing images via a paper feed and the build-up of a dense layering of colours from the riso machine, Sarah has found new ways of creating and archiving forms.

Visitors are invited to make their own mark on the exhibition through the medium of fax.

Launch party
6-8pm Wednesday 4th May, all welcome.

Over the course of 2024 Out of the Blue will continue to offer opportunities for artists and members of the community to learn, participate and earn income.

We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
