Augmented Reality Made Easy – A simple but powerful tool to add creative content to your artwork or to increase and improve audience engagement.

For artists or advertising/marketing managers working within the arts and culture sector.

Organised by Creativtek Ltd, this workshop is designed for the beginner to intermediate and it is not necessary to have any previous experience using augmented reality.

This 90 minute workshop provides a hands-on introduction to Augmented Reality (AR), a technology where virtual/digital content can be overlaid into physical space and viewed through the camera and screen of mobile devices. AR is an emerging tool being employed successfully in sectors as far reaching as heritage and tourism, arts and culture, engineering, and teaching and offers many exciting possibilities to add creative, informative, and engaging content for audiences and to improve and inspire advertising and marketing campaigns.

AR ‘extends’ the physical world by enhancing and transforming the viewer’s experience with a virtual overlay. Whether you have an iPad/tablet or a smartphone, scanning a trigger in the physical world with an AR app allows a new layer of information to appear. This information could be a link to a web site or social media feed, a video, an audio recording, or even a 3D model.

By the end of the workshop you will:

  • Know how AR is being used especially in the arts and culture sector
  • Understand how to successfully engage an audience with AR and to follow best practice
  • Be able to create simple but effective AR experiences
  • Have digitally connected your own videos and social media buttons to target images such as photographs, artworks, brochures and business cards.
  • Know how to test and view your AR artwork or advertising campaign using iPhone or Android mobile devices.
