Comics Workshop

Every Wednesday, Jan - July 2016

Time: 6:30-8:30pm

Where: Out of the Blue Drill Hall, 36 Dalmeny Street, Edinburgh.

Age range: 16-25

Working with independent comics artist Malcy Duff, #artcore created a free comics workshop where young people could freely drop in. Participants were free to work to activities set by Malcy or simply use the space and resources to work on their own material. A lot of the young people involved worked with other #artcore projects and also regularly contributed to “Opposable Thumbs” the #artcore comics compilation.

The tagline was:

Interested in comics, cartoons, fanzines? Whether you’re new to creating comics or have desk drawers stuffed full of existing work, we can help! At our new weekly comics meet ups, cartoonist Malcy Duff will present tips, tricks and activities to help develop your own style, as well as working collectively on printing monthly comic compilations.

There is currently an easing of restrictions in relation to education, hospitality, galleries, leisure and entertainment.

We are now bringing back events, classes, workshops, and exhibitions in line with Scottish Government guidelines.

  • Donate

Over the course of 2021 Out of the Blue will continue to offer opportunities for artists and members of the community to learn, participate and earn income.

We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
