LeithLate17 – Every Woman Super Woman 2

Exhibition: Thursday 15th June - Saturday 1st July, Launch: Thursday 15th June, 6pm-9pm
Exhibition open 10am - 5pm Mon - Sat

Every Woman Super Woman 2 (part 2) is an exhibition of prints created by young women from Young Saheliya to mark the launch of the second edition of the Every Woman Super Woman zine for LeithLate17.

The zine, designed by artist Rumana Sayed and produced in workshops with Young Saheliya and Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre, examines the experiences of street harassment as experienced by young women of colour and/or young Muslim women.

Every Woman Super Woman (EWSW) was developed in partnership between Edinburgh Art Festival, Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre, Amina Muslim Women’s Resource Centre, Stills Centre for Photography and Out of the Blueprint. The EWSW project was inspired by Ciara Phillips Every Woman, co-commissioned by Edinburgh Art Festival and 14-18 NOW Centenary Commissions for the 2016 Edinburgh Art Festival.

The publication of the second zine marks the 25th anniversairy of Saheliya; a specialist mental health and well-being support organisation for black, minority ethnic, asylum seeker, refugee and migrant women and girls in the Edinburgh and Glasgow area.
