November News

Friday 28th October 2022

Out of the Blue’s development is underpinned both by making strategic decisions and taking opportunities. Having a dedicated and skilled staff team and Board of trustees has been crucial to our sustainability. At this crucial and exciting time of development, we are currently recruiting for the Board and staff team and welcome applications from those who would be interested in bringing their skills and commitment to the mix.

Our centre for making, creating and design in Edinburgh at Out of the Blue Abbeymount Studios at the city centre end of Easter Road, is well worth a visit. On Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th of November Abbeymount Open Studios offers the opportunity to see behind the scenes of our creative spaces, meet the makers and browse a wide range of original artworks and gifts. There will also be art/craft/animation demonstrations and workshops taking place over the two days.

Out of the Blueprint have been offering residency opportunities for artists exploring Riso printing in their work. The work of current artist in residence Maria Stoian is exhibited at the Out of the Blue Drill Hall from the 3rd of November to the 1st of December.

Due to popular demand the Out of the Blue Drill Hall cafe team are running an Extra Flea Market on Saturday 5th December. All welcome to come and browse the 45+ stalls.

November sees the continuation of a huge range of classes, workshops, exhibitions and events all supported by the much acclaimed Drill Hall cafe.

Thank you for your support.

Over the course of 2024 Out of the Blue will continue to offer opportunities for artists and members of the community to learn, participate and earn income.

We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
