Demo Lite Project

April - July 2015

The Demo-Lite project gave young musicians and bands with limited experience the chance to rehearse for free and be coached by professional producers and sound engineers to gain an understanding of how the music industry really works. The project concluded with a free studio recording session and the recorded songs were made into a compilation album. The bands and artists involved were playing a range of different genres, including rock, metal, pop, hip-hop and indie and were varied in age, from 14 to 25.

The project took place at North Edinburgh Arts Centre in Muirhouse, Verden Studios in Portobello and WHALE Arts Agency in Westerhailes.

The bands worked with the #artcore team to bring you #artcore LIVE on Tuesday the 26th May and Create A Scene on Sunday 31st May at The Bongo Club. Artists who made these great nights happen include Sight of Mind, The Factory, Jai McEwan, Pessimist, Rachel Alice Johnson, The McRibsSugar Panthers, Grace & Legend and ODIN.

Below are a few live field recordings from practices and #artcore events, courtesy of the project’s Lead Producer Patrick Walker, and some photographs of the project taken from both the practice sessions and the #artcore gigs.
