The Bongo Club Ltd.
Truly independent, we’re owned by local arts charity Out Of The Blue (pictured above), which has an established track record as a catalyst for creativity in Edinburgh. This allows us to put the sounds of the underground and imaginative aspirations before the mighty dollar, encouraging the community to get involved and use our space to do their own thing.
At night you’ll find killer residencies from some of Scotland’s most notorious club nights: from hip hop, funk, soul, house, disco and good-time party rockers new and old at Mumbo Jumbo and Four Corners to Electrikal (pictured below) and Big n Bashy’s bass heavy bangers, house, techno and garage at Headset and sweet reggae rockin’ at Messenger Sound System. Soulsville brings rugged rhythm and blues and Substance (pictured above) champion terrific techno blizzards and banging house music. There are also midweek nights Notion (house/techno) and Loco Kamanchi (bass).
The City Workshop Edinburgh
Tamar – the face behind The City Workshop Edinburgh helps those who are new to drawing, painting and making to take time out and become more confident in their artistic ability by providing art classes with a supportive learning environment so that they can develop a creative hobby they love. There are lots of different art & craft classes to choose from including a range of online class options and classes for children.
There are so many reasons to learn an artistic skill; whether you want to study traditional techniques or switch off from the pressures of life, Tamar offers the perfect environment to try something new. There is nothing better than creating your own piece of art or craft, whether for your own home or a gift for a loved one, you can proudly say ‘I made that’!
The Clarsach Society & Edinburgh International Harp Festival
Our aim is to encourage the playing of the clarsach – one of Scotland’s oldest national instruments. We do this by hiring instruments, publishing music, granting scholarships and an annual Young Composer Award as well as organising workshops and events, including the Edinburgh International Harp Festival. There are twelve regional branches throughout the UK and one specialist wire branch.
