Bruncheon! Great Female Singers/Songwriters

Saturday 8th March 2014
11.30am - 3pm, free entry

The theme for the March 8th Bruncheon is Great Female Singers/Songwriters.

Each year International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8. The first International Women’s Day was held in 1911. Thousands of events occur to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women. Organisations, governments, charities, educational institutions, women’s groups, corporations and the media celebrate the day.

We will be inviting some of Edinburgh’s top musicians to perform the songs that mean the most to them of all the great songs that have been sung or written by women. From Bjork to Aretha Franklin, we’ll be honouring some of the heroines that have touched our lives with their music.

There will also be a performance by the Ladies Guerrilla String Quartet, and the cafe will be preparing a  special themed menu for the day.

Those of you on facebook can follow all the Bruncheon facebook action here.

  • Donate

Over the course of 2021 Out of the Blue will continue to offer opportunities for artists and members of the community to learn, participate and earn income.

We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
