Bruncheon! featuring the songs of Lou Reed

Saturday 11th January 2014
11.30am - 3pm, free entry

The OOTB Drill Hall offer a very warm welcome to new Bruncheon programmer William Douglas. William has a cracking January line-up for us to delight fans of Lou Reed, and introduce his music to those who are unfamiliar with these amazing songs.

Some of Edinburgh’s finest songwriters and performers will gather to perform their acoustic renditions of the Lou Reed songs that meant the most to them, including Perfect Day, Sweet Nothing and Walk on the Wild Side.

Lou Reed was the guitarist, singer and primary vocalist of the Velvet Underground, his solo career spanned several decades. Reed was known for his distinctive deadpan voice, poetic lyrics, and beautiful melodies. Brian Eno was famously quoted as saying that although the Velvet Underground’s debut album only sold 30,000 copies, “everyone who bought one of those 30,000 copies started a band.”

There will be performances by:

William Douglas
Daniel McGeever
Lach
Toby Snake-faced Jake
Joe Nisbet Jr
Aaron Wright
Cera Tri Cera Tops Impala
Ruth Barrie

and more.

To complement our Bruncheon programme, the cafe will be serving up New York Diner Classics, strong coffee and oven-fresh cakes and bakes.
