December 2019 News

Out of the Blue’s city wide venues help us fulfil our mission for Edinburgh to be a creative, participative city in which everyone is able to access the spaces and resources they require to pursue their own creativity. The history of the Bongo Club (‘part of the artistic DNA of Edinburgh’ since 1996) makes interesting reading. The Bongo continues to offer live music and a huge number and range of clubs with new and established DJ’s.

Out of the Blue manage buildings which are hives of activity accommodating over 200 artists across Edinburgh. The Out of the Blue Drill Hall houses the majority of our studios and is home to our legendary Christmas Arts Markets offering amazing opportunities to buy the work of up to 150 artists across 3 dates. The markets are within the convivial atmosphere of the Drill Hall with the cafe serving appropriately warming festive fayre. December’s Bruncheon provides a rich musical accompaniment to the Arts Market on Saturday 14th December.

Out of the Blue Abbeymount Open Studios (28th – 30th November) offers a fantastic opportunity to see and buy the rich and varied work of many of the 50 in situ makers, artists and designers. Come inside to meet the artists and see a broad variety of work hand made by local designers and makers.

Over the course of 2024 Out of the Blue will continue to offer opportunities for artists and members of the community to learn, participate and earn income.

We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
