August 2017 News

Friday 28th July 2017

Out of the Blue look forward to welcoming Edinburgh’s residents and visitors to the OOTB Drill Hall in August. OOTB’s contribution to festival time is very much made in Leith.

Leith Moves is an Out of the Blue and Heritage Lottery Fund supported education project investigating the movement of people and goods in and out of Leith through the years. We are showcasing a magnificent film and exhibition (12th – 19th) from the investigative project, with a launch event on August 11th. All welcome. The Leith Moves production, The Waves on the Seas is brought to you by Active Inquiry Flashback Drama Group and Strange Town Young Company. It invites audience to immerse themselves in the port of Leith! (16th-19th) Tickets now on sale via eventbrite

Edinburgh People is a highly acclaimed photography exhibition (1st-5th). Wholly appropriate to this time of year, it captures the cultures and stories of Edinburgh locals and visitors. All are welcome to attend the launch this Monday 31st July, 6pm – 9pm.

OOTB’s festival Bruncheon (12th) features CIRCUS VOICES and members of Fish to Fry with musicians from the Re-Act community who are also running their fabulous Re-Act Jumble Sale fundraiser on the same day. Music, food and browsing for all.

If you have the taste for browsing, what better way than to visit the monthly OOTB Flea Market (29th July and August 26th).

And before we reach August, be a part of the thrills and spills of the All or Nothing Summer Cabaret (29th July).

If you want to be a part of the OOTB team, we are expanding with the recruitment of a second Assistant Buildings Manager. A job description and application form can be downloaded on our website

Over the course of 2024 Out of the Blue will continue to offer opportunities for artists and members of the community to learn, participate and earn income.

We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
