December News

Wednesday 29th November 2023

We’ve got lots of exciting news this month as we gear up for the festive season.

We’re currently going through an exciting period of development, extending our provision of studios and creative opportunities within Edinburgh. To help steer this period of growth, we’re looking for a new board member with financial and accounting expertise. Want to find out more? Just head over to our website for more information.

December sees the return of the Drill Hall Christmas Arts Markets. Across four days (Saturdays 2nd and 9th and Sundays 3rd and 10th December), over 150 of our hand-picked local independent artists and makers will be selling their unique work. From paintings, prints and homewares through to jewellery, textiles and ceramics, there’s something for everyone.

Keeping with the Yuletide theme, Freeze Frame Film Club are showing a special screening of The Muppet Christmas Carol on Sunday 17th December. With a menu inspired by the film, freshly popped popcorn, quiz and prizes it’s the perfect festive treat for the whole family.

If you’re looking for something to do between Christmas and New Year, why not come along to our festive December Flea Market on Saturday 30th December and browse over 45 stalls packed with pre-loved clothes, jewellery and collectibles.

As always, the Drill Hall Café will be open throughout, serving a great selection of teas, coffees and treats.

Over at Out of the Blue Abbeymount Studios, they’re holding their annual Christmas Open Studios Weekend on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd December. It’s your chance to meet over 30 of their talented artists and makers, peek inside their studios and purchase some unique Christmas gifts.

Thank you once again for your support and wishing you a Merry Christmas when it comes. In the mean time take a look at our programme find out more about what’s coming up.

We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.
