January 2018 News

Thursday, 21st December 2017

A very happy new year from all at Out of the Blue! January at the Out of the Blue Drill Hall sees classes, exhibitions, workshops and events resume to warm up your winter. The Flea Market on December 30th offers the last opportunity of 2017 for a traditional rummage for treasure and treats. The first Flea Market of 2018 is 27th January. Freeze Frame Film Club (20th) is a chance to see the Bogart and Bacall classic ‘To Have or Have Not’ (1944). Moving into the cosiness of the Drill Hall rehearsal space, the film is presented alongside the Cafe’s celluloid inspired menu and/or popcorn and drinks. Come and hear local musical talent alongside delicious home-made cafe food at Bruncheon on Saturday 13th January.

Wiff Waff Wednesday is moving date to the last Wednesday of every month (31st). Come along for our regular monthly ping pong night for all ages, with music, drink and great food from the Drill Hall Arts Cafe.

The Out of the Blue Drill Hall Arts Cafe is closed from 24th December to 2nd January inclusive (Open for Flea Market on 30th).

Out of the Blue Abbeymount Studios is a new OOTB venture, half a mile from the Drill Hall. Bookings are open for a range of new year classes. Shared studio space is also available at this exciting new location.

Over the course of 2024 Out of the Blue will continue to offer opportunities for artists and members of the community to learn, participate and earn income.

We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
