The sun is over the yardarm and the Drill Hall is warming up nicely in readiness for springtime. Avail yourself of the huge range of creative activities, classes and events in February.
Bruncheon has had 10 delightful years of celebrating music and delectable food from the Drill Hall Arts Café, so it’s time to celebrate in carnival-style (10th) with musical delights from Edinburgh and beyond.
Freeze Frame has become firmly established as an informal evening of flickering images drawn from classic old favourites. Free popcorn and good company are guaranteed alongside the Cafe’s celluloid menu inspired by the films themselves.They don’t come more classic than 1962’s ‘Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?’ Don’t hide behind your cushions – watch it on the big screen with us (17th).
Out of the Blue’s legendary Flea Market is drawing in the crowds. Rummage for treasures at stalls full to bursting with clothes, jewellery, small furniture, music, books, bric-a-brac and so much more. Treat yourself to delicious coffee and cake at the Drill Hall Arts Cafe (24th).
Wiff Waff Wednesday is a monthly ping-pong night for all ages with music, drink and great food at the Drill Hall Arts Cafe. Friendship first, competition second (28th).
Part of Out of the Blue’s mission is to reclaim space for community use. To this end we are working with the Leith community on the Meanwhile Use project to activate an area revealed by the demolition of the ex- tram depot off Leith Walk. If you live in Leith we encourage you to get involved. A steering group has been set up and the next planning meeting is on 24th February at the Out of the Blue Drill Hall. Our latest enterprise Out of the Blueprint is a risograph print studio at the Out of the Blue Drill Hall, offering affordable, eco-friendly printing and supporting young artists. The project is gaining much deserved acclaim. Visit the studio for a guided tour to see what’s possible with this remarkably creative print process.
