September News

Friday 27th August 2021

Out of the Blue continue to enable the return of much needed convivial and creative activity across our sites.

Out of the Blueprint are excited to announce the launch of the Gocco Club; a FREE T-shirt making workshop for 18-24 year olds who are are not in education, training or employment. Gocco Club, which will meet for five Friday workshops from September 10th in our dedicated print room at Out of the Blue Abbeymount Studios, is a chance to design, hand-print and sell self-created T-shirts.

Out of the Blueprint are also currently looking for two artists-in-residence for the year 2021-2022: visual artists, illustrators, graphic designers, printmakers or other creative individuals who are interested in the riso print process.

The Abbeymount Studios Makers Market is a brand new monthly outdoor market on the first Saturday of each month. The market is held in the playground area at the back of Abbeymount Studios from 11am-5pm (free entry) and features original art and gifts created by our talented resident artists.

The much acclaimed Out of the Blue Flea Market (last Saturday of every month) returns in the airy main space of the Out of the Blue Drill Hall. Once the bargain hunting is done, stop for lunch at the licensed Drill Hall cafe which offers a delicious range of home-style cooking, cakes and more.

Out of the Blue is taking part in the Cockburn Association’s 2021 Doors Open Days. On Saturday 25th September, tours of the A-listed Drill Hall will be running hourly from 10.30 a.m until last tour at 2.30pm

We look forward to welcoming you to Out of the Blue.

Thank you for your support.

Over the course of 2024 Out of the Blue will continue to offer opportunities for artists and members of the community to learn, participate and earn income.

We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
