August News

Friday 28th July 2023

Out of the Blue provide a wide-ranging programme of events, classes, workshops, exhibitions and performances all year round. Welcome to our exciting August programme.

The Out Bound Collective will be presenting their Over Blown Exhibition from Tuesday 1st to Saturday 12th August. Showcasing the work of local artists, the exhibition will take over the main hall atrium and feature multiple media and platforms. To celebrate, the team is hosting an Exhibition Launch on Friday 4th August. Come and meet the artists involved and enjoy live performances and installations from Elephant in Red, Susanna Mcguiness, DEEJAY YOURSELF and Alistair McClymont.

Also in August, Out of the Blueprint will be running their annual Print Expo – the ultimate pop-up market for zines, riso prints and t-shirts by some of Scotland’s most exciting young artists. Running from Monday 14th to Friday 25th August, there’s something for everyone from prints to niche gift ideas. There will also be an Evening Opening on Friday 18th August and two workshops for 16-25 year-olds.

Our monthly Flea Market takes place on Saturday 26th August, with stalls packed with pre-loved books, clothes and other collectibles.

As always, the Drill Hall Cafe will be open throughout the month, serving a great selection of teas, coffees and summer treats.

Thank you once again for your support and hope to see you soon! In the meantime take a look at our programme to find out more about what’s coming up.

Over the course of 2024 Out of the Blue will continue to offer opportunities for artists and members of the community to learn, participate and earn income.

We use the space we have developed in 6 buildings in Edinburgh for studios, workshops, classes, projects, exhibitions, social enterprises, events, clubs, music making, markets, a cafe and more.

Our all year round activity helps create the culture of the city, supporting the local economy and having positive social impact for the thousands of individuals and organisations we work with.

We would humbly accept a financial donation, however small, in support of our work.
